ATV Insurance Coverage Options
Understand your coverage options so you can protect your ride, your passengers, and your wallet. We'll help you find the right combination for your needs.
Liability Coverage
Liability coverage is the foundation of any ATV insurance policy. It protects you financially if you cause bodily injury or property damage to someone else while operating your ATV, UTV, or Side-by-Side.
In Utah, liability insurance is strongly recommended for anyone riding on public lands, BLM trails, or roads open to OHV traffic. Without it, you could be personally responsible for medical bills, property repairs, and legal defense costs — which can easily reach tens of thousands of dollars.
Liability policies typically include two components: bodily injury liability (covers others' medical expenses) and property damage liability (covers damage to others' property).
Get Liability CoverageCollision Coverage
Collision coverage pays to repair or replace your ATV if it's damaged in a crash — whether you hit another vehicle, a tree, a rock, or roll over on the trail. It applies regardless of who is at fault.
This coverage is especially valuable for newer or higher-value machines. If you're financing your ATV, your lender will almost certainly require collision coverage as a condition of the loan.
Collision coverage is subject to a deductible — the amount you pay out of pocket before insurance kicks in. We can help you find the right deductible level that balances your monthly premium with your financial comfort zone.
Get Collision CoverageComprehensive Coverage
Comprehensive coverage protects your ATV from damage caused by events other than collisions. This includes theft, vandalism, fire, flooding, falling objects, hail, and wildlife encounters — all common risks for off-road vehicles in Utah.
Theft is a major concern for ATV owners. ATVs and UTVs are frequently stolen from driveways, garages, and trailhead parking areas. Comprehensive coverage ensures you're not left paying out of pocket for a stolen machine.
Utah's diverse terrain and weather also create unique risks. Flash floods in southern Utah canyons, wildfires during dry summers, and falling debris on mountain trails are all covered under comprehensive policies.
Get Comprehensive CoverageMedical Payments Coverage
Medical payments coverage (MedPay) pays for medical expenses if you or your passengers are injured in an ATV accident — regardless of who is at fault. It covers hospital bills, surgery, X-rays, ambulance rides, and other medical costs.
Off-road riding inherently carries injury risk. Rough terrain, high speeds, and obstacles can lead to serious injuries. MedPay provides a financial safety net that covers medical costs up to your policy limits, helping you avoid devastating out-of-pocket expenses.
This coverage works alongside your health insurance and can help cover deductibles, copays, and expenses that your health plan might not fully cover.
Get Medical CoverageUninsured / Underinsured Motorist
Uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage protects you if you're injured by another rider or driver who either doesn't have insurance or doesn't have enough coverage to pay for your injuries and damages.
On shared trails and roads open to OHV use, you may encounter other riders who don't carry insurance. If one of them causes an accident that injures you or damages your ATV, this coverage ensures you're not left paying the bills yourself.
This is one of the most underrated types of ATV insurance coverage and is particularly important for riders who frequent popular, crowded trail systems.
Get UM/UIM CoverageCustom Parts & Equipment Coverage
If you've invested in aftermarket accessories, modifications, or custom parts for your ATV, standard coverage may not be enough. Custom parts and equipment (CPE) coverage extends your policy to include the value of upgrades beyond the factory setup.
Common customizations covered include lift kits, winches, light bars, bumpers, exhaust systems, wheels and tires, sound systems, cargo racks, and protective skid plates. Without CPE coverage, these items may not be covered in a loss.
We'll help you calculate the total value of your modifications and find a policy that covers your full investment — not just the base vehicle.
